In our institute of internal medicines department we have 10 medical wards .Each medical wards have 45 beds ,have equipped with around 10 Oxygen ports in each wards, each wards have equipped with 2 bp apparatus, 1 x-ray lobby ,2 ambu bags ,2 laryngoscope , 1 pulse oximeter , 1 ecg machine , 1 glucometer ,1 portable suction ,1 nebulizer ,1 weighing machine ,and one examination table.
In toxicology ward ,we have 27 beds and equipped with 11 o2 ports, 9 ventilators,13 multipara monitors,1 ecg machine ,1 defibrillator, 1 usg machine, 5 syringe pumps, 10 infusion pumps, 1 x ray lobby, mobile x-ray unit , 1 laryngoscope, 5 pulse oximeters, 5 ambu bags,2 bp apparatus ,1 glucometer,1 portable suction apparatus, 1 nebulizer, 1 weighing machine, 1 bipap machine ,and we are doing plasmapheresis in our toxicology ward.
In HDU ward we have 24 beds and have equipped with 24 o2 ports , 6 ventilators, 5 multipara monitors,1 ecg machine ,1 defibrillator, 1 usg machine ,15 syringe pumps, 10 infusion pumps,1 mobile x-ray unit, 1 x-ray lobby, 2 bp apparatus, 2 laryngoscope, 1 pulse oximeter,6 ambu bags ,1 glucometer,2 portable suction apparatus, 1 nebulizer .
Under the Institute of Internal Medicine, we have isolation ward for patients admitted with Communicable diseases such as INFLUENZA, TETANUS, COVID-19, VARICELLA, RABIES, YELLOW FEVER, NIPAH VIRUS, MONKEY POX providing protocol based treatment for infected patients with Isolation and Quarantine.
Under the Institute of Internal Medicine, we have provided a resuscitation bed with Emergency medicines Equipped with ALS support in Outpatient room for tackling emergencies/First Aid.

The Toxicology Laboratory at Madras Medical College is a WHO recognised , premier centre for poison detection and analysis in Tamil Nadu.It is equipped with advanced instruments like UH5300 Spectrophotometer, Urine Drug Analyzer, CBC Hematology Analyzer, and ABG machine.The lab detects nine major drugs, including cocaine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids and opioids.Special tests such as serum methemoglobin and cholinesterase add depth to its diagnostic capabilities.Samples tested include blood, urine, and gastric lavage in suspected poisoning cases.These tests aids in accurate diagnosis, emergency care, and legal reporting.The lab supports doctors with rapid, reliable results in critical moments.It also plays a key role in training medical students and primary care doctors.Its contribution to toxicology research strengthens public health and clinical knowledge.With precision and purpose, MMC’s toxicology lab stands as a pillar of excellence in poison management.
Case registers and chain-of-custody forms (especially in forensic toxicology)
PCTRC (Poison Control Training And Research Centre) is one of the few centres in India recognised by WHO for the state of art management of Toxicology patients. PCTRC is functioning as a separate Medical unit round the clock in collaboration with TNHSP and has treated more than 12,000 poisoning and Snake bite cases per annum. In addition PCTRC has also trained more than 6000 doctors and 7000 Para medical staff from primary and Secondary care centres in poison management which has brought down the mortality rate across the state.
This centre is one of its kind in the state, started by Tamil Nadu Medical Service Corporation, and began functioning on 31.07.2005.

ART centre at RGGGH was started in the year 2005. Thirteen faculties are working with Nodal Officer.
All Seropositive patients with documented Seropositive report from ICTC throughout Tamil Nadu will be registered for lifelong ART in our Centre.

Institute of internal medicine is conducting INSTITUTE DAY every year in July to felicitate the senior faculties in the field of medicine by awarding them with orations and the best performing Under graduate and Post graduate will be awarded during this event
Institute of internal medicine conducts World Hypertension Day for every healthcare professionals and common people, observed every May 17th in order to raise awareness and promote hypertension prevention, detection and control .
