  • In 1996 Higher speciality course DM Medical oncology was started by Prof S.Subramanian
  • First oncology center where treatment is provided free of cost in entire India.
  • Department completed 50 years of service.Medical oncologist who trained here are well renowned oncologist and teachers in India

  • Every year average of 2800 newly diagnosed cancer patients registered and 18000 patients are treated.It includes all solid and hematalogical malignancy

  • Cancer awareness programs and cancer survivor meet regularly conducted in our department.2023 worl cancer day theme “close the care gap”which is about understanding inequalities in cancer care.On world cancer day (February 4),careness awareness rally and program conduted in Rajiv Gandhi government hospital campus by oncology department.
  • people who have battled different cancer and treated in our department are disease free and living happy,healthy lives can help fill so many hearts with inspiration. Our best measure of success is health of our patients.22 years old male with Hodgkins lymphoma stage IV presented in our department with poor performance status,bed ridden and critically ill,with our continuous effort and treatment protocol we improved patient performance status and saved his life
