History

Established in the Year: 1978
  • First ever surgical gastroenterology department in the country
  • In 1984, the first M.Ch course was started. It was started with 2 post graduates .
  • From 2010 the number of post graduate seats increased form 2 to 6
  • The department was upgraded in the year 2014 as as Institute of surgical gastroenterology and at present functioning with one director, one professor, one associate professor and five assistant professors.
  • Our institute provides high quality tertiary surgical care for poor and in our and neighbouring states.

Facility & Clinical Care

  • Surgeries of upper and lower gastrointestinal cancer
  • Surgeries or Liver , biliary and pancreatic cancer
  • Advanced laprascopic surgeries.
  • DDLT Liver transplantation
  • Post operative intensive care ward with advanced ventilator support
  • 24HRS emergency service
  • We presently having 4 theatre days per week and totally 10 tables per week
  • Upper gi endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
