The Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme was launched by the Tamil Nadu Government in 2012. This scheme aims to offer cashless assistance and top-notch healthcare facilities to those belonging to economically challenged backgrounds.

The CMCHIS covers hospitalisation, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up treatment. The scheme has partnered with a vast network of hospitals, making it easy for you to visit a hospital in your vicinity and avail of treatment.

The CMCHIS enrollment process is simple. If you have all the necessary documents, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Request a certificate of income from your village administrative officer or revenue authorities.

Step 2: Submit the required documents at the enrollment centre of the Amma Health Insurance Scheme.

Step 3: Get them verified by the kiosk operator, then provide your biometric details (fingerprint, photo, eye scan).

Step 4: Upon verification and biometric scan, an e-card will be issued shortly.

Some key features of the scheme include:

  • Coverage for family members under a family floater plan.
  • Cashless treatments at empanelled hospitals.
  • 24×7 availability of medical services and treatments.

Only Tamil Nadu residents or Sri Lankan refugees with citizenship proof can apply. Eligibility includes:

  • Annual household income must not exceed ₹72,000.
  • Coverage includes eligible individuals and their dependents.

Eligible dependents:

  • 1.Legal spouse
  • 2.Unmarried children under 25 years
  • 3.Parents
  • Migrants from other states living in TN for 6+ months with valid proof.
  • Orphans and rescued girl children are also eligible.

Carry the following documents to the Amma Health Insurance enrollment centre:

  • Income Certificate
  • Original and copy of Ration Card
  • Self-declaration by family head
  • Identity Proof (e.g., Aadhaar, PAN)
  • Address Proof
